The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of personalities residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 moves, and how much of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
